Douglas a front runner for head coach’s role Jason Byrne Aug 30, 2012

Former top sprinter Troy Douglas appears to have the inside track in the race to become to become the new National Track and Field head coach.Douglas is understood to be one of three interested persons who have applied for the position, including former triple jumper Brian Wellman, who served in the capacity for this year’s Carifta Games and most recently at the London Olympics. Douglas, a past Olympian, has expressed his desire to return home from Holland where he has been living for several y (via The Royal Gazette)

Bermuda came within a whisker of having two athletes qualify for the finals at an Olympics. Tyrone Smith and Arantxa King did the island proud in the long jump. While Smith finished 12th, if he had managed a legal jump on his third attempt, he would have easily won a silver medal. (via bermudasun.bm)
