MileSplit Bermuda: Meet Our New Site Editor Earl Basden

Hello to the MileSplit Family, my name is Earl Basden, I have been running a Sports Website in Bermuda called www.islandstats.com since 2004.

I have been involved in sports all my life, playing football (soccer), cricket, rugby, track, tennis and much more.

I had to stop competing at the age of 30 due to a hip replacement, but after a short stint at coaching football, I wanted to help Bermuda expand in sports coverage.

Before www.islandstats.com began, other local papers, and television only covered certain sports, so with the help of a partner we came up with the idea of Island Stats.

From there sports coverage in Bermuda has changed, running www.islandstats.com has taken me around the world covering sports, with the biggest event being the Tokyo Olympics, where I was the only Bermuda journalist in Tokyo when Bermuda won their first ever gold medal.

Joining the MileSplit family will definitely improve my friendship with others as the MileSplit team looks to be a very good one, and I am really looking forward to settling in and gaining those new friends.
