The Bermuda School Sports Federation hosted the Middle School Inter-School Sports Championships at the Flora Duffy South Field Stadium at the National Sports Center.
The Day saw several Records fall.
Zydon Lightbourne-Furbert was the star of the meet as the only athlete who bagged three Individual Gold Medals while also smashing a meet record. The Warwick Academy athlete claimed first place in the Under 13 Boys 1500 meters, 800 meters, and 400 meters. He broke the 400-meter record by over four seconds with a time of 53.26 seconds. Jeon Wolfe from Dellwood Middle School finished the meet with a win in the 200 meters, a second in the 100 meters, and a third in the 400 meters. Thrower Kyle Valadao from Warwick Academy was a double winner claiming Gold in the Shot Put and Discus.
Saezjhour Dent from Saltus and Gabriel Armstrong shared Champion Boy honors in the Over 13 Boys category. Dent leaped to Gold in the Long and Triple Jump events while finishing second in the 400 meters. He also teamed up with Malik Paynter, Christian Piney, and Rajee Knight-Rowling to break the Over 13 Boys 4x100 Relay Record with a time of 47.87. Armstrong was victorious in the Discus and Javelin and finished second in the shot put. Bermuda Institute's Andre Hollinsid also had a good day winning the Long Jump while finishing second in the 100 and 200-meter races.
Chaz Edmead was crowned the Under 12 Boys Champion. The Saltus student crossed the line first in the 100 and 200-meter events and finished second in the High Jump. Ryley Martin from Sandys Secondary Middle School finished second in the 200 and 400 meters and third in the 800 meters. Somersfield Academy's Brooklyn Barnett was a double winner in the Discus and Shot Put with Conor O'Sullivan winning the 400 and 800 meter runs. Alasdair Cooper broke the Under 12 Boys Turbo Javelin record with a throw of 26.04m
The Under 12 Girls Champion was Zakhya Scott from Sandys Secondary Middle School. Scott won the 200 and 400 meters and finished second in the 100 meters to Amara Samuels from Bermuda High School who also won the Long Jump. Zaylee Lawrence from Whitney finished second in the 400 and 800 meters while Zaria Codrington finished second in the 200 meters and third in the 100 and 800 meters.
Jaylen Lewis won the Under 13 Girls Division. The BHS student was first in the 800, second in the 400 meters and third in the Long Jump. T'Mia from Mount Saint Agnes won the Long Jump and finished third in both the 800 meters and High Jump.
Bermuda High School also won the Champion Girl in the Over 13 Division with Pria Wilson winning the 100 meters and the High Jump and finishing second in the 200 meters. Warwick Academy's Amaris Munya won the 800 meters and finished second in the 400 and 1500 meters. Classmate Tatiana Sousa broke the Turbo Javelin Record with a throw of 22.52 meters and also won the shot put while finishing third in the Discus.
